*Recommendation* To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo 🧜🏻‍♀️

“I’ve made a mistake. It started with a prince, as most stories do.”

Title: To Kill a Kingdom

Author: Alexandra Christo

Genre: Young Adult Fantasy, set in a world filled with sirens, mermaids, magic and deadly royals.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What I can tell you about this book:

Lira is the princess of the sirens, the deadliest known to man, and is infamous for killing a human prince every year for her birthday. With seventeen hearts in her collection, this year Lira hopes to impress her mother The Sea Queen and retrieve the heart of a special prince: Elian, the siren hunter.

Elian wants nothing more than to spend the rest of his days on his pirate ship evading kingly duties, and rid his ocean of sirens. Especially the deadly Prince’s Bane, who nearly took his life in his own kingdom. And when an unusual young woman shows up in the middle of the ocean able to speak the tongue of the sirens, Elian is intrigued. Suspicious as hell, but intrigued.

Cursed to live as a human, Lira has to bring Elian’s heart to her mother in order to protect herself and her beloved cousin. Elian hopes to find the one thing that can destroy The Sea Queen, and Lira knows how to get it.

But neither is truthful about their true intentions, and royals are used to getting what they want.

I’d recommend this to: any young adult readers who love humor in their characters, action in their fantasy, and magic in every page.

I’d compare this to: Let me warn you that this is not really a Little Mermaid retelling. But it does have the magic of that tale, mixed with the action and romance of the Grishaverse.
